The Gospel
The Gospel
The most important decision you will make in this lifetime is the decision to be SAVED. The Bible calls this being BORN AGAIN. Just as there was a day when you were physically born into this world, there must be a day when you are spiritually born into the family of God.
The Bible teaches us that every person is guilty of sin. “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10), and “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
The penalty for our sin is death; that is both physical death as well as spiritual death…separation from God. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, came to earth, and lived a perfect and sinless life. And because of His perfection, He became the one and only substitute to die in our place, taking our sin upon Himself and dying to satisfy the condemnation that was rightfully ours (II Corinthians 5:21) “For he hath made him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” And then in Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
To receive this forgiveness from God and the gift of eternal life that He has made available to us all, here is what the scriptures tell us is necessary. (Romans 10:9-13) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
I would encourage you, right now, to pray a prayer similar to this, from your heart to the heart of God: “God, I confess to you that I have sinned and am worthy of the penalty of eternal judgment. I fully know that I cannot save myself by any works of righteousness that I may do. However, I believe that Jesus Christ, your dear Son, died, was buried, and rose again to redeem me from my sin. Right here and now, I ask you to forgive my sin, come into my heart, and become my Savior and Lord. By faith, I receive your gift of eternal life. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!"
If you have prayed this prayer and meant it with all your heart, then the Bible teaches that you have just been saved!
We would love to hear from you about your decision. If we can help you in this new spiritual journey with Christ, it would be our honor. Please call the church office (903-784-3258) or send us the quick form below.
